Supporting those affected by the conflict between Israel and Palestine

MedSoc joins the call for a ceasefire and an end of the occupation.
Our priorities continue to be supporting all affected by the violence.

Your family away from home.

Help is available.

We all go through some common challenges as medical students living away from home. The Medical School and Student Union provide extensive student welfare support – from serious exam anxieties to more mundane issues (e.g. running out of condoms!)

Medic Families

Over two hundred Phase 1 and 2 students join our family system each year.

You’ll have been grouped up with “siblings” and a pair of senior medic “parents”, who’ll befriend and mentor the you. From academic advice to providing a listening ear and all welfare matters in between, MedSoc’s families are the nucleus of the strong Sheffield medic community.

What we've done

  • STI self-testing kits in the medical school bathrooms
  • Support posters around the medical school
  • Medic Families
  • Drop in welfare cafes during exams with free tea and biscuits
