We know it's difficult.
Get the support you need with MedSoc's Welfare team.
Read a guide by MedSoc on how to survive and thrive in Sheffield! Starting university is such an exciting time, but can also be quite daunting as everything is completely new. We are here to support you however we can, so we’ve put together this guide to try and make the transition as easy as possible.
Cut Racism Out Campaign
MedSoc is dedicated to standing up for equality within and outside of our community, thus launching our Cut Racism Out Campaign.

Your family away from home.
Help is available.
We all go through some common challenges as medical students living away from home. The Medical School and Student Union provide extensive student welfare support – from serious exam anxieties to more mundane issues (e.g. running out of condoms!)
Over two hundred Phase 1 and 2 students join our family system each year.
You’ll have been grouped up with “siblings” and a pair of senior medic “parents”, who’ll befriend and mentor the you. From academic advice to providing a listening ear and all welfare matters in between, MedSoc’s families are the nucleus of the strong Sheffield medic community.
Give us a bell.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact James via Facebook Messenger for any Welfare-related matters.
