We are a brand-new society representing BAME medical students and raising awareness on racism and inequality within the medical profession, the NHS, and during their studies. We understand that raising complaints on racism can be difficult; we want to create a platform where we can support and amplify the voices of students in a safe and confidential environment. We want to implement significant and lasting change that will improve the experiences of current and future Sheffield medical students, by reforming the medical curriculum, expediting and resolving complaints, and promoting effective diversity training and awareness for medical students. We will host a variety of events ranging from cultural evenings to informative talks with guest speakers, open to all Sheffield medical students. This can lead to collaborations with other MedSoc sub-societies and external medical associations.
