MedSoc’s Welfare Team

Adam Rajubally
Welfare Officer

Mustafa Al Jorani
Deputy Welfare Officer

The MedSoc welfare team is here to support you throughout your time at medical school, from the moment you first arrive at Sheffield to the point where you become a doctor

Whilst we don't replace the support systems the medical school have, we're here for you if you'd like to come and have a chat or speak to us about something, no matter how big or small

We'll try our best to help you, and if we can't, to signpost you to whoever we think will best help you in your situation

We're in meetings with faculty, fighting your corner and making sure student welfare and wellbeing is prioritised in whatever decisions are made

We arrange the medic families scheme, where first year fresher medical students are paired up with second years who have been through it all and can help with academics and life in Sheffield. We publish Freshwing magazine, a guide to surviving and thriving in Sheffield, with irreverent faculty interviews and tips and tricks from the MedSoc committee

And at the other end, with the backing of the medical school, we make up goodie bags for the phase 4s, the final years, before they sit their final exams

Have you read Freshwing yet?

Freshwing magazine is produced every year by MedSoc as an introduction to Sheffield for first year medical students. Part of a long tradition of students helping students going back decades (we have the paper copies), Freshwing aims to tell you a bit about Sheffield as a city and a university - things to do, places to visit, food to eat - as well as advertising the many things MedSoc has to offer

(Freshwing will be released and available to read in September)
